چکیده
We illustrate the mathematical theory of entropy production in repeated quantum measurement processes developed a previous work by studying examples instruments displaying various interesting phenomena and singularities. emphasize role thermodynamic formalism, give many whose resulting probability measures on space infinite sequences outcomes (shift space) do not have (weak) Gibbs property. also discuss physically relevant where rate satisfies large deviation principle but fails to obey central limit theorem fluctuation–dissipation theorem. Throughout analysis, we explore connections with other, priori unrelated topics like functions Markov chains, hidden models, matrix products number theory.

Quantum Measurements, Information and Entropy Production
Thermodynamics has withstood the onslaught of the two revolutions in physical theory that have occurred during this century; i.e. relativity and quantum mechanics. Yet the microscopic basis of of thermodynamic laws remains unclear. What appears to be time reversal symmetry on the microscopic scale turns into time reversal asymmetry on the macroscopic scale. Our entire intuition concerning what ...
متن کاملOn the definition of entropy production, via examples
We present a definition of entropy production rate for classes of deterministic and stochastic dynamics. The point of departure is a Gibbsian representation of the steady state path space measure for which ‘‘the density’’ is determined with respect to the time-reversed process. The Gibbs formalism is used as a unifying algorithm capable of incorporating basic properties of entropy production in...
متن کاملNon Markovian Quantum Repeated Interactions and Measurements
A non-Markovian model of quantum repeated interactions between a small quantum system and an infinite chain of quantum systems is presented. By adapting and applying usual projection operator techniques in this context, discrete versions of the integro-differential and time-convolutioness Master equations for the reduced system are derived. Next, an intuitive and rigorous description of the ind...
متن کاملQuantum Measurement and Entropy Production
We study the time evolution of a quantum system without classical counterpart, undergoing a process of entropy increase due to the environment influence. We show that if the environment-induced decoherence is interpreted in terms of wave-function collapses, a symbolic sequence can be generated. We prove that the Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy of this sequence coincides with rate of von Neumann entrop...
متن کاملContinuity bounds on the quantum relative entropy — II
The quantum relative entropy is frequently used as a distance measure between two quantum states, and inequalities relating it to other distance measures are important mathematical tools in many areas of quantum information theory. We have derived many such inequalities in previous work. The present paper is a follow-up on this, and provides a sharp upper bound on the relative entropy in terms ...
